"Dreadful experience on Orthopaedics ward"

About: Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

I was unfortunate enough to be admitted to the Orthopaedic ward last June after a bad fracture to my arm which required surgery.

The staff nurse was brusque and dismissive of my pain.

During the night the staff left all the ward lights on and the door wide open whilst they chatted loudly in the corridor area.

They had no regard for the patients who were trying to sleep. After complaining I was ignored for the remainder of my stay and I had to ask the cleaner to help me to get dressed the next morning! There was an elderly patient left on a trolley in the ward corridor all night who was crying out for help and no one attended to her.

I was disgusted at the treatment afforded to her. I have been in hospital several times before and this is the worst ward I have ever had the misfortune to stay on!

Luckily I was on holiday when I had my accident and so will probably never have to step foot in this hospital again fingers crossed.
