I began to get nasty long terms headaches and went to see my GP. After a lengthy diagnosis, she thought I had had a minor stroke. I am nearly 68. I was told she would refer me to the Good Hope Hospital. My previous dealing with Good hope left me with a sour taste in my mouth, 5 days in a bed after a knee cleaning op, with virtually zero attendance or care. I stank to say the least, but that was back in the 90s.
I received a very prompt phone call asking me to attend the Minor Stroke Centre where I was treated wonderfully. As you can imagine I was worried. After an ECG and blood extraction (I HATE needles) I saw the consultant. After a lengthy examination, he recommended I visit my optician for a full eye checkup. He also sent me for a scan of my neck to check the flow of the blood to the brain. Very professional staff and I felt cared for. My eyes were given 100% and was the neck scan. This was a month ago. I felt reassured when I left the hospital. I went back later for a scan of my head by appointment but do not know the results, after 3 weeks of waiting. The main point I wish to address was the kindness, care and attention I received whilst in Good Hope. Brilliant. My sincere thanks to all the staff for giving me reassurance, care, and treated me like a human being. I am more than grateful.
