"Miscarriage care"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I experienced a miscarriage at 10weeks and attended a&e in June. I lost over a litre of blood and there were issues in controlling the blood loss. The support and care I received from the nursing team (Laura & Lucy -I think), along with the gynaecologist was fantastic at a time when our world was falling apart.

Unfortunately, I had an incomplete miscarriage which has meant a visit to the EPAC team (Debbie) 3 weeks later, who again I can not fault in providing support and help in the decision we needed to make. I have subsequently needed to attend the Day Surgery Unit for surgical management of my miscarriage. Our nurse (Helen) was very aware of our needs and the sensitivity of our circumstances along with the whole team who 'got' us through the whole process as quickly as possible.

My only concern would be that I was not aware that our baby remains had been sent to Pathology for tests and that no results have been share with us. It was only when I attended the EPAC team that I was made aware that there were some results.

Overall, a yet another example of the wonderful NHS team who are putting people first. Thank you.

Dear "lemon top"

Thank you for your feedback. I am so pleased that you felt so well supported and cared for at such a very difficult time.

I will pass your feedback on to the departments and individual staff you mention, as I know that getting compassionate care right for families experiencing pregnancy loss is so important.

I am so sorry that communication appears to have fallen short in terms of what then happened to your baby's remains and any tests results. I would be happy to look into this for you so that you have the answers that you need but also so that we can do better, but would need some further details from you. If you would like me to do this please contact me on: 01823 343437

Thank you for making contact with us to share your experience.

Kind regards,

Nicky

Thanks for your prompt respond. I have tried to contact you on the number above but I was informed it was the wrong number. Is there another number to try? Thanks
