Having had an ongoing uti after major surgery some 18 months ago and receiving ongoing antibiotic treatment: things seem to ease and then become worse.
This evening 30.6.17 the pain and accompanying shivering were such that my wife could no longer stand it. As no fill in appointments were available at our surgery we drove to the RD&E in Exeter. On route my wife became worse - vomiting; shivering and very weak.
On arrival at A&E we were shown straight into the Walk In Center where within minutes we were met by the on call nurse. My wife was shown care, sympathy and treated with dignity. After a test my wife was seen by the nurse practitioner where we were told that the uti had ascended to her kidneys. The diagnosis was prompt and efficient and a prescription given with instructions. I cannot praise the qualty of care and service we were given at our visit high enough. Everyone was busy but made us feel as if we were the only ones there.
We left feeling psychologically better if not cured at that moment and I am sure that psychological effect will be as important to my wifes recovery as getting the correct treatment. Thank-you so much to all the staff at Exeter RD&E especially those in the Walk In Center. They were brilliant.
