"Trying to get a referral from a doctor."

About: Brownlow Health @Princes Park

Yesterday 29/6/17 I attended this surgery Brownlow Health @Princes Park to see a doctor.

Myself and a few others had to wait a very long time to be seen as there was only one receptionist on duty. This is despite the fact that the booking in system had gone down.

I was lead to believe when speaking to a doctor on the phone that my appointment would reflect my wishes to see that same doctor. But once again I have been fobbed off with a nurse. This situation of wanting to see a doctor and being referred to a nurse has happened before.

This surgery has a triage system which asks you what is wrong with you when making an appointement. This is new to me as a service user for nearly twenty years. In short they never did this till Brownlow Health took over. The last time I attended the surgery to make an appointment I had to fill out my symptoms on a slip of paper. Which also wanted to know my ethnicity. As a man of colour I find this slightly disturbing. As this slip of paper is used to prioritise whether you get to see a doctor or a nurse.
