"The doctors here take time to listen"

(as the patient),

I got an on the day appointment at Carden Medical Practice, Aberdeen - the appointments were running a little late but nothing major, and the Doctor that saw me was the most understanding and compassionate person I've ever met.

I went in asking for my antidepressants to be increased, and I left feeling like my Doctor understood me, wanted to understand more, and was ready and willing to help should the medication boost not make enough of a difference.

Now I understand why the appointments were running late - the doctors here take time to listen, and I'd much rather sit in the waiting room an extra 10 minutes than have a doctor that simply gives me a prescription and sends me on my way.

Dear HRG21,

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion.

Being understood and listened to at the first point of contact with any service is very important - it helps reduce anxiety in us all and really makes a difference to our well being in the long term.

It sounds like the doctor you saw was happy to take that wee bit of extra time to give you the advice and help you needed and that’s how it should be.

I’ll pass on your comments to Carden Medical Practice– and hopefully the doctor in question will have a brighter day knowing that he/she made a difference to yours.
