I was admitted on Monday 29 May, and had aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair on Tuesday.
I spent first few days in CICU and PCU before being moved to Chesterman 4.
Unfortunately, some bad experiences in hospital before (including life- threatening misdiagnoses) meant that my expectations were low ahead of admission...
But how very wrong I was!
The facility itself is pristine, exceptionally modern and clean, with patients and their wellbeing and comfort clearly paramount.
The staff - and I do mean every member of staff - went out of their way to do all they could for me. And that mattered when I was at my most vulnerable and often, scared.
The nursing teams are exemplary and are dedicated, devoted, compassionate and highly trained. All the support staff are similarly wonderful.
Ditto for everyone in theatre, including of course my surgeon.
I really can't thank everyone on the Chesterman Wing enough. An exceptional group of people and a shining example of all the NHS can be.
Thank you all!
"An outstanding hospital & service"
