My son was referred to this service because of unexplained tiredness and went along to an assessment as requested.
He was asked to fill out a form with a few questions and then interrogated on it for 25 minutes by a consultant and nurse. His Dad was specifically prohibited from attending the session and given the fact my son has social anxiety and severe depression made him far worse.
He came out of the session in absolute despair, frustrated and deeply upset.
He was making a great recovery from depression but this session and the way it was handled has set him back years.
He was promised CBT at the session but nothing has been actioned.
After nearly 3 months after the session we have still not received the conclusions of the assessment and I chased this today only to be told he doesnt have CFS (based on their 20 minute grilling) and no help offered.
A week ago a very senior specialist Consultant after extensive review of tests, a thorough physical and extensive discussions with my son ruled out other conditions and concluded it was CFS.
My son is 23 years old, bed bound doesnt see a future and being offered no help and even worse than that they have made things considerably worse.
I am a great supporter of the NHS but this treatment of my son cant be right.
"CFS Service : very poor"
