"I just wanted to be told"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I had an artery biopsy on my scalp.  No problem with the operation.

It was the Day Care Ward management that was lacking. A waiting room full of patients and relatives with hardly enough chairs and no idea how long the wait was for their operation. The expensive looking chairs may have been OK for a tall person but were not comfortable for someone of 5 feet who had to sit for at least 5 hours.

My spouse was with me all day but if we had been told that my operation would be the last of the day he could have gone home before lunch.

I understand that there were more serious operations than mine and I don't have diabetes or underlying conditions so I understand why I may have been last.

I just wanted to be told so I could sit in the sun or go to the shop and did not have to worry about my spouse sitting around from 11. 30 to 6. 30 pm
