"Disappointed by having no photos of my first baby"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I attended my 20 week scan at ninewells hospital and the staff went through procedure explaining all the checks she was doing. I got to the end of the appointment and they casually said they hadn't pressed print and that I had no scan photos. This was requested at the start of the appointment and I then asked could they try again to which they said they didn't have time. I'm left really disappointed by having no photos of my first baby and feel they did nothing to rectify this.

Dear jad024

I am really sorry to read that you do not have scan photos of your baby, despite asking at the beginning of the appointment. This is so unusual and I have not heard of this happening before. Even if it was busy you should have been offered a picture, as it was our error and it sounds as if it was not for any technical reasons that a picture could not be obtained. I can only apologise that this has happened and assure you that your experience has been passed on to staff to prevent it happening again.

I am grateful to you for bringing this matter to my attention and please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you would like me to look into this further.
