"6/5!"

About: Guy's Hospital

I attended Guy's urgent care centre yesterday and was extremely impressed! Earlier in the day I had made the fatal mistake of 'googling' my current symptoms...this lead me to a host of pages advising that I seek 'urgent medical attention' and an NHS 111 call advising the same- even though it was pretty clear my symptoms were very unlikely to be serious. I couldn't get a GP appointment any time soon so I decided to go to Guy's UC as this was the closest Walk-in facility.

The centre was quite busy so I had a bit of a wait but it was also very calm and seemed to be running very smoothly.

When I was called I saw a lovely doctor who was very reassuring, professional and efficient. After an examination, they took the time to explain why they could rule out a more serious cause for my symptoms and gave me advice for monitoring the symptoms going forward. I know that 'googled' symptoms like mine are probably responsible for taking up a lot of clincians' time- but I had been really worried and I was so grateful that this doctor was kind and took my concerns seriously. I left the centre yesterday feeling like I had received really good care, had been treated with respect and greatly reassured! 6/5 for Guy's urgent care centre!
