"Day unit staff- amazing care"

About: York Hospital / General surgery

My son had an operation yesterday on the day unit. He's 2 and had to be last on the list due to an infection, he didn't go to theatre until 12.30. The surgery didn't take long and we were able to be with him as much as possible. We had 2 nurses allocated to us and they were great, they checked on us regularly. They were polite and well informed. They were sympathetic to us as parents and we're very gentle with our son. We had to wait a while for a prescription before we left but the nurses did everything they could to get this as quick as possible. The nurses did everything they could to make this experience as positive as it could be. Now if we ever have to returns I will have no concerns knowing there are people like these nurses around. Thank you to all the staff involved in his care. Xx

I am sorry to hear that your son had to have an operation but so pleased to hear that, during what must have been a worrying time for you, staff were polite and caring, checking on you regularly.

I am glad to hear that the nurses made the experience as positive as it could be and that they did all they could to ensure you received your son's prescription as soon as possible.

I will pass your kind comments on to the team involved in your son's care.

I hope that your son is recovering well from his surgery and that you and he will receive the same, high standard of care should you need to visit us again in the future.
