"Prolonged discharge"

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Maternity care

I was told in the morning that my newborn and I will be discharged that day. However I have to wait from morning till a couple of minutes to midnight before the supposed discharge

Paperwork was completed and finally discharge. It was a horrible experience thinking of having to carry a baby less than 48hrs old outside to the car at that time of the night all because somebody or some people couldn't consider that it is inappropriate to discharge a mother and baby that late therefore things need to be done within an acceptable timeframe.

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby! I'm really sorry that you had such a long wait to be discharged and had a horrible experience at the end of your stay with us.

I know the Head of Midwifery and her team will want to look into what's happened and so I'd be really grateful if you could email our Patient Advice and Liaison Team with more information? it's palsfrimleypark@fhft.nhs.uk

Many thanks
