As I am a local resident based in Solihull I went to Solihull Hospital as I felt assured of their service, my first point of call was Medical Assessment unit and I was presenting with Chest pain, fast heart rate and generally feeling quite unwell, I was dealt with very promptly and the staff were all very attentive and quick to action diagnostic testing that involved taking bloods, putting me on a cardiac monitor and keeping a very sound eye on my wellbeing. I am a nurse myself so I felt much empathetic of the vulnerabiloity of being in this position and what it was like being a patient, and I can you it is true nurses are the worst patients at times, as in my role ive often told patients ive treated not to panic and here I am doing the polar opposite,
I was quickly admitted onto Short stay unit and it was early hours Monday morning as yes I was still panicky but the nurses quickly put me at my ease, in fact the one nurse sat on a chair in the bay watching not just me but other patients, and I did feel assured. This is a core of our nursing showing compassion and care.
I stayed well in to the afternoon after having an anxious wait to have a scan to be proved I didn't have an Embolism and the relief was Euphoric, but what resounds so well was the kindness of the staff, the ward was efficiently organised and I felt as both a patient and a nurse proud of our NHS, so I thank you all for your dedication and empathetic ethos.
