Attended GP after my 8 month old son was feverish and generally unwell. Gp then quickly referred us to paediatric team at wishaw (ward 19). When we arrived we were seen right away and shown to a bedspace. The initial member of staff informed us the ward was particularly busy at that time but a member of nursing staff would see us as quickly as possible and gave us some instructions to help get procedures underway such as provide urine sample etc.
Very quickly afterwards a member of nursing staff arrived and commenced our admission she appologised in advance and prepared us for the reality of a prolonged wait to see a member of medical staff. She checked our son over and provided him with some medication to improve his temperature and make him more comfortable in the mean time. We were then seen by dr davis much quicker than we anticipated and he assessed our son and sent away appropriate tests.
The nursing staff popped in frequently as did dr davis during our day on the ward and we couldnt have asked for better care of friendlier staff. They made a horrible day (the first time our son has been unwell) much easier on us all.
