"My 84yr old dad's treatment"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Medical Oncology

(as a relative),

He has a cancerous bowel tumour, diagnosed 1 and a half years ago. The cancer has spread therefore removal is not an option. He has been in and out of hospital regularly for constipation and was reluctant to have an op even though he was offered many times, but eventually he went ahead with an emergency op yesterday. He is now feeling much better though he'll probably take a while to recover due to his age.

The care and attention he has received at Wishaw General on all of his visits and stays has been second to none. I can't praise the service enough. I have no words. All of the docs, nurses, auxilliary staff and the porters all deserve a medal. These are our true heroes. They keep us alive and I thank them one and all. Keep up the good work and I truly hope that we can keep our Scottish NHS free at the point of need. We all need it, and I, for one, appreciate it.

Dear AllOfUsFirst

Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding the care your dad has received at Wishaw General. It is a very distressing time when a family member is diagnosed with cancer and even more so as an emergency operation has had to be carried out. I'm pleased to hear that your dad is now feeling much better and recovering. Please pass on our good wishes for a smooth recovery.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with all appropriate staff who will be pleased to receive your positive comments.

I am very proud of the Scottish NHS and extremely proud to be part of it.

Warmest regards and thank you again.

Margaret
