"Positive experience with CBT"

About: Hounslow IAPT

(as a service user),

I took roughly 10 sessions of one to one CBT for depression. The sessions were friendly and relaxed and helped me to develop useful methods to deal with the symptoms of the depression e. g. negative thoughts and behaviours. Although I still have depression (CBT is not designed to be a cure) I am far better able to cope with it than I was before starting CBT. This is in turn has reduced the severity of the depression and is allowing me to enjoy my life a lot more. CBT may not be for everyone but I strongly feel it is worth a try and the therapist can also suggest alternatives if necessary.
