My husband collapsed in the bathroom last Friday morning. My husband is a stroke survivor and also has cancer. I dialled 999 and the ambulance crew and paramedics arrived quickly. They were amazing helping hubby, talking to him and with professional expertise carried him down the stairs. In A and E again the service was excellent staff were very kind and attentive. What started out as a suspected stroke turned out to be a seizure. A huge thank you to all involved you really are amazing.
The only service that could be improved is the discharge service on weekends. My husband was in ambulatory care and was waiting for a doctor to discharge him. No Doctor turned up even though they had been requested. We left without seeing anyone as my husband was not being monitored for anything. and was sitting staring at four walls from 6am. I know there is a shortage of doctors at week ends and I was told only they can access the records on the computer. Perhaps a senior nurse could be trained to access the computer as this highlight another cause of "bedblocking"
