I received a telephone call on Tuesday asking me to attend for my procedure the next day as they had a slot.
From the time I arrived I could not fault anything. The staff were attentive and friendly.
Eventually I went to theatre at around 4pm the next day.
I woke up in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit being told by my nurse that it was all over and everything went well. She told me that she would be looking after me on that shift.
Within half an hour the ward Sister had telephoned my wife to say that everything was ok and that I was recovering.
My daughter picked me up and brought me home 4 days after surgey after my surgeon had spoken to me and said I was making excellent progress.
I would like to thank all the surgeons, doctors, nurses and ancillary staff for their professional attitude and friendly caring, particularly in THE CICU. There were people from mid 30's to mid 90's and all appeared to receive the same treatment.
I know you should never single anybody out but, I have two nurses in mind on the CICU. Firstly Rachael, for her kind, humourous cojoling which got me on the road to recovery a lot quicker (did you get your bike? ). Secondly Anu, whose professional caring and administrative skills made my discharge so simple.
In fact to all the Staff Nurses, Sisters, Nurses and Doctors in the CICU, thank you, you do a brilliant job.
I am surprisingly home in time for my wife's birthday and my 72nd birthday, and I hope this is printed.
