"Anxious wait for hospital appointment"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Diagnosed HCP, GP made hospital referral at end of November 2016, appointment not until late April 2017. I totally understand about NHS resources and funding, but to wait 5mths for 1st consultation I feel is a bit much, I have great relationship with my GP and if I didnt I dont know what I would have done the past 5mths as I have rapidly gone down hill, I am now on antidepressants because as time passes im becoming more and more anxious.

Dear Mr Anxious

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis of HCP and the length of time you have had to wait for your first consultation. I am aware that some our patients are having to wait longer that we would like and we are working hard to try to reduce the wait for patients.

I would be happy to look into this for you and would be grateful if you can please contact the Patient Experience Team:

Post - Waverley Gate, 2 - 4 Waterloo Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3EG

Email – feedback@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Telephone - 0131 536 3370

I hope that we can help.

Kind regards

Jeannette
