I had problems with my knee for a long time, but over the last year I saw the various departments (MRI, Xray, physio, all of whom were pleasant and helpful) and finally the consultant who agreed a total knee replacement was the way forward.
I arrived at ward 16 and was met by a friendly ward sister who took details and settled me in. The anaesthetist visited me an suggested a spinal block for this procedure, which I eventually had. The op was very good, couldn't remember much due to being sedated, but I was taken up to ward 15 later that afternoon. The staff on this ward are excellent and are well rehearsed in looking after people with various orthopaedic needs.
Good atmosphere on the ward with helpful knowledgable staff both day and night. I was in for 6 days, I wasn't really prepared for how long it takes to start to feel a bit better. It is a slow process and getting up and walking really helped me. The staff really look after and encourage you and I really thank them for that. A few names to thank: Collette, Ella, Katherine, Charlotte, Julie, Jacqueline, Lisa, Jane, Sophie, Night staff Andy and Coomaree and physio Sophie. The consultant and doctors visited frequently so you felt any issues could be addressed.
Thank you Solihull hospital.
