I hadn't been in hospital as a patient for nearly 40 years. I found the uniform of the staff very confusing at first. A colour guide would have been very useful.
I was transferred to Lings Bar Hospital on 23rd February having had a fall on 11th February. I found the care from all the staff kind, generous, tender, concerned and very very caring indeed. Apart from one member of staff whose brusque behaviour upset me and I have reported this to the ward supervisor.
The physiotherapist encouraged me to practise going up and down stairs in the lift, getting in/out of bed and keeping mobile.
At the beginning of my stay at Lings Bar I couldn't swallow anything whole but was encouraged to keep nourished by beautiful soup served in a special mug and then small quantities of the main courses served, until by the end of my stay I could eat and digest almost anything from the menu. I found it varied, tasty and imaginative and I think the chefs are to be congratulated.
I found the ward clean and airy. I had some interesting conversations with fellow patients, both on the ward and in the communal television room.
My thanks and congratulations to all of the staff.
