"No contact since assessment"

About: Springfield University Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

After contacting Wandsworth IAPT several months ago I was referred to the assessment team at Springfield Hospital for an assessment as IAPT felt their services were not the most appropriate.

I had an appointment with a psychiatrist a few months later and between IAPT referring me and this date I had very little contact from the assessment team. When I phoned to ask what I should be doing in the meantime as my mental health was deteriorating I was simply told I should go to A&E if I felt suicidal.

I had the assessment and was given a diagnosis and a vague plan of how things would move forward. Since then I have had no contact and no letter outlining this plan or the assessment despite being told I would receive this. I have called on a number of occasions and have been in a distressed state, I have not been given any advice except being told the admin team would look into whether a letter had been sent and someone from the community mental health team will be in touch to arrange an appointment with the psychologist.

I understand there is very little money for mental health services and services need to be prioritised for the most unwell however, I feel all that is happening is my mental health is deteriorating. It seems that the only way to be supported is if you are at the point where you are taking overdoses and ending up in A&E. This hasn't happened yet but is definitely heading that way. I feel I have been just left and that things are just getting worse and worse. It makes me feel what does it take to be supported and helped. At the moment I am not living, I am just surviving.

Dear J249,

I apologise I have not been in touch sooner. I have not had a full response from the service, they require a name so they can access your case. The email for our team is complaintsmanager@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk so this can be provided and I can get a full response from the service

Many thanks

Claire
