About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

Having been in hospital for some weeks my mood occasionally gets low. Despite working in a busy Ward with high daily admissions and discharges, I have been really delighted and impressed by the individual and dedicated support I have received from Elaine.

Elaine seems to notice when I need some support and a friendly "ear" to enable me to express my frustration at being in hospital for a long period. Often she will come in, pull up a chair and listen to me as well as lifting my spirits again. She does this while balancing a high workload and I therefore really appreciate her using her limited time to support me. She really does make a difference to me being in hospital - a real star!
