Having recently been ill with a winter bug, I developed a high fever during the evening of 4th January and after several hours passed out in the bathroom without warning. For the first time ever I dialled 111 for advice as I've a history of losing consciousness when ill and wanted reassurance as to what to do as I was very dizzy, aware I'd banged my head and had no idea how long I'd been out cold for (last time it happened I was admitted to A&E for 24 hours of tests and observation).
I was taken through a comprehensive list of questions, at the end of which I was advised that a doctor would be in touch with me within the next 2 hours. A doctor called me an hour later and after asking a few more questions said they were coming to see me. About an hour after that the doctor arrived (I live a fair way from Ashford) and conducted some tests. The doctor gave me antibiotics for a chest infection and advice on reducing my high temperature and told me to remain in bed until I was no longer dizzy and my temperature returned to normal. I was very grateful for their 3am visit which was hugely reassuring particularly as I live alone. I would like to thank the call handler and the doctor for their help. I'm now on the road to recovery, cough improving daily and bruises from the fall gradually healing.
"Very impressive service"
