"A visit to the A and E Dept ROH with minor injury"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Accident and emergency

We visited the A andE dept on 14/02/2017 when my nephew cut his finger when awindow broke. We anticipated a long wait as the board showed an estimated waiting time of 3hrs and it was a minor cut.we had only been waiting a short time when his name was called and the Doctor sent him to X ray. The doctor was very pleasant and gave a thorough explanation about what to expect and what was happening. The wait in Xray was again short and we were sent to the Minor cases treatment area and a very pleasant Nurse explained the wound had no glass in and proceeded to dress the finger whilst explaining how to care for the dressing. The nurse arranged follow up with the District Nurses for removal of the dressing. We were out of the dept in aroud an hour or less.I cannot fault any aspect of our visit to a busy dept.It was clean and we had no worries about cross infection. Please pass our comments on to all staff involved including support services such as cleaning staff, porters and clinical staff.
