"Minor eye operation"

About: Cumberland Infirmary / General surgery

I had an operation on the eyelid of my left eye on the 18th October 2016 carried out by the surgeon. Home by 11am and delighted with the skills of all the staff involved.Arrived four weeks later for a follow up check and my notes had mysteriously disappeared. They never did turn up so consequently I never had the check up. It would seem the office staff, or whoever does the paperwork aren't up to the job.

Thank you for your contact via this website.

It is pleasing to read that your eye surgery went ok, however, please accept my apologies that you are still waiting for your post op check-up. The fact that your notes had ‘mysteriously disappeared’ before your follow up appointment was obviously extremely frustrating for you. I can understand why this has now prompted you to contact the hospital via NHS Choices.

Unfortunately as your post is anonymous and you have not specified the clinic date concerned I am unable to investigate further at this time.

I would recommend that you contact the PALS officer here at the Cumberland Infirmary who may be able to help you by putting you in touch with senior staff members who can discuss your concerns.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service can be contacted on

• 01228 814008 between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

• E-mail to PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk

We do value your feedback and I will share this with the relevant senior staff within Ophthalmology and Medical Records.

Once again please accept my sincere apologies for your poor experience relating to your post-operative check.

With our very best regards,

Alison S-D
