In my experience professionalism and patient enagament did not exist within the Resoritive Dental Department. These are just a few of the issues I experienced.
1. Only two dental nurses so in my treatment of over one hour had to hold my own suction tube and tissues to absorb the blood and water coming from my mouth.
2. I was not fully informed about treatment so I could not make an informed decision about my care. I later found out the choice I was encourged to make was easier for the dentist and more painful for me (a member of staff actually told me this! ! ).
3. The treatment plan agreed by one member of staff and the consultant at my initial appointment was questioned by another consultant at my third appointment.
4. Photographs were taken of my mouth, which I did not mind, but I should have been asked for my consent and advised what the photographs were going to be used for.
5. I was given anesthetic and sat there for 30 minutes before my treatment commenced, towards the end of my treatment the anesthetic was no longer working so I had to be given additional injections.
I felt like I was just a patient to be practiced on.
I could go on but the these are most salient points I wanted to raise.
"I was not fully informed about treament so I could not make an informed decision about my care."
