"The Buddy system is important to help patients settle in"

About: Locked & Specialist Rehab / Spring Hill

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

We need more buddies, the buddies are important. Staff need to be more consistent and give us up to date information, improve the notice boards and make sure there are welcome packs.

Thank you for adding your story to Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear of your concerns.

All new patients to Spring Hill are given a “buddy” in their first few weeks of admission who can answer questions and help you settle in to the ward. This is only a short term arrangement though as we encourage all patients to seek support from staff; usually their Care Coordinator or Therapist. Noticeboards should be maintained and up to date at all times. Welcome packs should also be available. I will take this back to the ward team and ensure this is the case. I would urge you to share any further concerns at the next community meeting so that these can be discussed with the team? It’s really helpful to get your feedback so we can ensure the necessary arrangements are put in place. Thanks again for sharing your comments and I hope the issues you have raised have now been resolved.
