"I've made a great step with progress"

About: Locked & Specialist Rehab / Ashby Ward

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The dynamics have changed on my ward and this is because there are some difficult patients, and people can find this difficult.

The non-smoking may be also one of the reasons and also the lack of leave and regular doctors. We have a temporary doctor at the moment and we are not sure who we will be getting permanently. The staff say they are not sure if we will get another temporary doctor or if its going to be a permanent one.

This makes people feel there is not a lot happening. I'm fortunate as I've made a great step with progress, some people behind me (not as far along as me) think things are going slower than it should, but that's the way it can be on the ward. I am lucky because I have 45 minutes community leave now and then I will move up to one hour.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Being on a ward can be very difficult at times when individuals have their own challenges to deal with - people move on and new people come in, and that also changes the dynamics for everyone. I am glad that you have some independence and are able to get out and do things - well done!

In regards to the ward doctor, this has now changed and you should see improvements with having a more permanent doctor with you.

Good luck with your progress

Lynn
