I underwent hip replacement surgery at Ormskirk Hospital at the end of November 2016. Following referral from my GP I was assessed by an MCAS physiotherapist, including X-ray and scans, at Southport Hospital. This whole process was most impressive. It was extremely thorough and every part of the process and diagnosis was explained to me very clearly and my questions and concerns addressed in a way which really made me feel 'listened to'. This was followed by hip replacement surgery at the end of November at Ormskirk Hospital where I was a patient in G Ward. The consultant surgeon and the surgery/theatre team were so impressive. I was initially very nervous. I was reassured and treated with great sensitivity and respect by the whole team, whilst at the same time being impressed by their ultimate expertise and efficiency. Again, everything was explained to me and my understanding ensured. The nursing staff of G Ward, including nurses, therapists, student nurses and ancillary staff, were superb. They were highly efficient, caring, reassuring, encouraging and gave me confidence as well as respecting my dignity. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of my overall experience throughout which I was treated with the utmost efficiency, care, sensivity and respect and which I consider to be a truly patient centred approach. Thank you.
