"Disabled car parking"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Clinical haematology

Today I had cause to buy a multi parking ticket.As. we use disabled parking very regularly was not happy that as a blue badge holder who also spends all day having treatment that we now have to pay but accept that's the way it is.However my question is this. How will the disabled car parks be policed?Anyone can buy the ticket and use disabled spaces and it can even be passed on and used by other people who the ticket is not issued to.Surely to ensure these spaces are used for the disabled name , the car registration number and blue badge ref number should be part of the ticket issued to people who use it and need it most.I was most surprised not to be asked for any information when I mentioned that it was for a blue badge holder.Does this not need further thought?

Thank you for your post about your visit to hospital in January.

I can appreciate the frustration at having to pay for parking in the blue badge area and your concerns that anyone can still buy a pass for this car park - meaning it could still be mis-used.

Whilst anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that this car park is being used far more appropriately since charges applied the point about recording the blue badge number etc are valid and I will pass them on to my colleagues in facilities to consider.

With best wishes Sarah Turner-Saint head of communications
