"Expert and professional midwifery care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

After a not so positive experience in another hospital after giving birth to my fist child I was astounded by the care I was given in wishaw general hospital by the Midwives, in particular Pauline and Catina, ward 21/22. Their expertise and professionalism prevailed! As a fellow nurse I can honestly say I was utterly gobsmacked by the care they provided.

Pauline cut her break short and stayed on after her shift ended to offer her support and guidance. I was astounded by her utter enthusiasm, expertise and care. Throughout my whole experience she was calm and so ahead of the game. I can honestly say it took the fear out of childbirth and left me with the feeling of nothing but joy at the birth of my baby boy.

Catina was also so forward thinking and calm. Everything just seemed so natural and personalised.

The aftercare was also so effortless and commendable, whenever anyone asks about experience or I get the chance to talk about it I can't praise the staff highly enough!

My only regret is that I never got the chance before now!

I cannot recommend the staff highly enough! An absolute credit to the NHS!

Hello Restons,

Thank you so much for this extremely positive and heartfelt response, we appreciate this feedback at any stage and recognise how busy a time it is for new mothers, so thank you for taking the time to do this. I hope you are both well and I know both Midwives you have mentioned will appreciate this so much, as will all their colleagues within wards 21 and 22. I shall share this with all our staff.

Our staff always feel privileged to be part of a woman and baby's journey through pregnancy and childbirth and the early days thereafter and aim to provide high quality person centred care. It is also very reassuring to know that the contribution and dedication of our Midwives really made such an enormous impact to your experience of childbirth and that this will be memories that you can cherish.

Once again thank you for sharing your opinion and enjoy the days ahead.

Update posted by Restons (the patient)

Thank you for your response. I wish I had done it sooner, it was always my intention. However as you said it has been a busy time.

I also believe that credit where it is due.

Once again, thank you kindly.

Restons
