"Dehydrated and not given a drink in A&E"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was admitted to a&e on Sunday morning by ambulance. I was in a lot of pain and the ambulance crew helped the best they could I then got put in a cubical and had been told as well as nurses I was very dehydrated and needed to keep trying to drink water. I had asked for a drink when the nurse came to check my bp and I got told the doctor will be along soon. so I asked again and said no problem but I'm allowed to drink, as she had already been told I was allowed, and she said someone will get me a drink and bring it. that never happened. I then had to wait a hour and half to see the doctor, which was fine, to which I asked again for a drink and he was not impressed that I hadn't been given anything and I had just been left. I hadn't been checked on since my bp.  Generally, the nurses who treated me behaved very poorly and they were to busy to even just do a general check to see how I was.
