"He was extremely knowledgeable and seemed up to date with the latest research"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as the patient),

After an admission to the medical assessment unit due to a crohn's disease flare up, I was referred to the IBD Clinic at the Royal Alexandria Hospital. I had a fantastic experience and would just like to say thank you.

Previously, I had been treated for the last 6 years at a different NHS hospital and my care, and appointments, had been pretty rubbish for various reasons. Having lived in the catchment area for the RAH for the last 3 years, I was really glad when it was suggested I move to the IBD clinic at the RAH instead. Luckily, the day I was in the medical assessment unit, the on-call consultant was a gastroenterologist (Dr Clarke? ), and she was so helpful.

I received my first appointment within 2 weeks of my initial admission. I attended the clinic yesterday and was met by Seth (I believe his name was) - a specialist IBD nurse.

Seth was fantastic! At my old hospital, I was never given the opportunity to ask any questions or find out anything about the medication I had prescribed. Seth answered all my questions, showed me previous notes and photos from old procedures which I had never seen and genuinely took the time to listen to my concerns and provide helpful advice and, importantly, put in place a plan to review my medication with a hope it will stop any flare ups going forward. He was extremely knowledgeable and seemed up to date with the latest research and studies regarding crohn's and the medication I am on. He gave me a really helpful little leaflet about IBD and a contact number and email address for the IBD clinic and advised what the next steps will be in my care. I feel 100% better knowing I am now under the care of the RAH IBD clinic and really can't thank Seth enough.
