I had an appointment for 5pm and all went well with checking in, sight test and dilation drops.
I and the other patients were left in the waiting room with no information or updates on how late our Consultant was running. There were updates on the Matrix screens for others clinics that had long since ended. The reception desk staff went off shift around half five and the desk was then empty. It was left to one patient to get slightly irate before we were informed that appointments were 90 mins behind!
I asked if there was somewhere to get a drink or something to eat, a choc bar would have done, but was told that in the Acre building there were all closed!
I could go over to the main building and see what was there !
I am a stranger to the Hospital so do not know my way around, plus my eyes were dilated, which greatly affects my vision, so would not have been able to see where I was going, even if I knew where.
I accept that clinics overrun, but for there not to be any information on this or outlets to obtain refreshments is poor management.
I was not the only patient that was unhappy with the situation.
