In the early hours of the morning my son had a cluster of seizures and was taken to children's a& e. He has special needs so can find hospital visit particularly unplanned ones stressful.
The paramedics that brought us from Stonehaven to Aberdeen were lovely. The medical staff we saw in a & e were great. But what really made our experience special was the day staff on PAU ward.
We had quite a wait from medication to come up from pharmacy and he was getting agitated. He had his teddy with him and he wanted to play Drs with the stethoscope and blood pressure cuff. They let him play with it and even sought an appropriate sized cuff for teddy as the one on the trolley was too big. They really engaged well with him and gave him his space when needed. Which doesn't always happen.
"They really engaged well with him"
