"I am on the mend now"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I arrived at Heartlands A and E dept one afternoon about 1. 00. I was in extreme pain from sciatica, there was a small queue which went down very quickly and I was seen by a nurse who took my details and told me to wait for the doctor to call me.

A short while later I was called in and examined in depth by Ayesha. She prescribed some tablets and painkillers for me and gave me morphine. I was taken to the CDU unit in a wheelchair as I could not walk and given a bed.

The nurses there kept checking on me and giving me meds as required. Later that evening Ayesha came on to the ward and came to check on me. I was still in severe pain and she got me some stronger painkillers which helped when they kicked in. She was very efficient and caring and nothing was too much trouble. I was allowed to go home at around 11 oclock and she made sure|I was ok with that.

Nothing was too much trouble and I could not have had better care anywhere. I am on the mend now and many thanks to all your staff, especially Ayesha.

Dear bigdavew

Thank you so much for your kind comments regarding your patient experience in the Accident and Emergency Department at Heartlands Hospital.

I'm so pleased to learn that throughout your time in the department, you were well cared for and supported by the staff who work very hard in often difficult circumstances to provide a positive patient experience.

I will ensure that your post is highlighted to the Matron and Clinical Lead Consultant for Accident and Emergency who will both be so pleased to communicate and share your feedback with all of the team, in particular Ayesha.

I hope this is acceptable and once again thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, it is very important to us.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
