"The very best of care"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

In 2014 I had the shock of my life on being told I had a tumour in my bladder, as it was my first real experience of illness other than the usual colds/flu treated by home medication, as one does..

I can only say that the removal of the tumour, TURBT, under a 'spinal' anaesthetic, which I selected as I was interested in seeing what was going on, everyone involved were brilliant in caring for me.

Since then I had firstly, in the 12 months following the TURBT, intravesicular delivery of BCG in a six weekly period and a further four weekly injections when unfortunately the supply of the vaccine ran out due to 'World production problems' After two 'all clear' looks into the the bladder in 2015 I was put on a 12 monthly intravesicular delivery of Mitomycin C which ended last October.

I suffered no side effects whatever from any of the procedures/treatments. I received the very best of care by the urology staff at the Hospital. Even the receptionists were well above the average. I did hear that this department was one of the best in the UK and I can well believe it.

I can only say that anyone receiving a similar prognosis as I had in 2014 should be assured that they are in the best of hands.
