"Cancellations of appointments again and again....."

The ENT department is supposed to see my elderly mother regularly to resolve her ear problem or she is unable to hear.

Not being able to hear is a huge problem for an elderly independent lady and it ruins her quality of life.

My mother has nothing but appreciation for her wonderful nurse who does her ears for her but she is regularly struggling to get her appointment and when she does get an appointment, its is cancelled again and again. She was very reluctantly making a complaint to the hospital PALS team via email (as she is now unable to hear properly to call them) and no sooner had she sent the email she discovered her appointment was cancelled yet again, totally unacceptable! She now has to wait a further 6 weeks to be seen (having been cancelled twice before for the same appointment.) My mother is grateful for the service and relies on it though it is constantly cancelling her due to lack of capacity, which is not her fault. The service cannot keep cancelling patients, there are targets to be met which are designed to deliver quality measures - none of which are being met by this poorly provided service which is grossly impacting on an elderly lady and no doubt many others.
