My heart attack happened on a Sunday evening.
By the time I realised it wasn't heartburn I was in extreme pain.
I was taken by ambulance to A&E where a blood test indicated a heart attack and immediately given emergency drugs to help, transferred to AMU for further investigation and/or treatment.
By now I am a 65-year old lady absolutely terrified and refusing morphine (we simply are not good friends) however the junior doctor on duty that night was so patient with me and eventually I had the morphine albeit in small shots until the pain was eased.
My move to CCU was swift and even more swiftly followed by an angioplasty with stent repair.
All in all amazing treatment and amazing care.
The staff on CCU are so professional coupled with being caring and treating each patient with respect and dignity.
If I have to single one person out for praise it has to go to the junior doctor on AMU who so patiently convinced me that taking morphine was going to be ok and really was my last resort- for that alone she deserves a medal!
I am just sorry that I don't know their name and not able to write to them personally.
Thank you to all the staff involved in my rapid recovery - I feel so well.
"So grateful"
