"A world class hospital with outstanding staff"

About: University College Hospital / Accident and emergency

I had a serious seizure at Euston Station and within minutes was in A&E. Surrounded by caring professional staff the tests and life support activities were constant. I had another seizure and a dangerous high temperature yet there was no panic and my body was kept going and supported whilst tests were carried out to determine exactly what was wrong with me. When the temperature started to subside and it was clear I did not have Meningitis I was referred the next day to the Acute Medical Wing where the expert Neurological team took me under their wing. The constant monitoring continued and then I was told that I had suffered Epileptic fits which had been caused by the damage I had sustained in a horrific car accident in 1982 when an 18 inch piece of wood had penetrated my skull. I left at 10pm on the Wednesday with the new drugs to help control, but will not prevent, future fits and excellent advice on what I can and cannot now do. All staff were charming and sincere, the expertise was worlds class and the cleanliness of the hospital excellent. I owe the teams my life and I will be eternally grateful to all of them..
