"They were kindly, helpful, practical and peaceful and gave me hope"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

(as the patient),

I have been hospitalised three times and I wish to say how much spiritual support I received from the pastors especially Reverend Hallam and Reverend Burke who gave of their time freely and kindly to me and anyone else who wished to talk with them. I believe that they helped me to get better emotionally as it was a great shock to be hospitalised at all, and then when I was re-hospitalised within a short time, that was terrifying experience as I thought how am I to survive this if the drugs do not work? But these pastors made a big difference as they were kindly, helpful, practical and peaceful and gave me hope. I know other patients who became friends also liked them.

Dear Kindlychaplains

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this positive feedback about the chaplaincy team; which I have shared with them.

I was very pleased to hear that they were able to provide you with the support required to get you through this terrifying experience.

I know the team will want to join me in wishing you well and I hope you are recovering well.

Dear Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Ms Flower,

I am delighted to share my story and hope that this will be seen by many people. It matters not what belief system, it is a question of humanity and this is what the pastors have and gave of themselves to me. And I am truly thankful to the Trust for engaging the Chaplaincy service as a whole.

Whilst I am writing I also wish to thank the Trust employees - all of them - for saving my life three times.

With much gratitude.
