My wife was taken ill at work due to a problem with her eye and I took her to Specsavers as the doctors were not available for emergency appointments. They diagnosed a corneal ulcer and referred her to the Ophthalmology department for further tests and treatment. I brought her home and she should have received a call within two hours from the department to come in and been seen. She spent the entire afternoon resting and waiting for the call, calling Specsavers again after 2 hours and asking them to chase it up. At 4.30, I call the hospital to find out what's going on, to be told that the department has closed for the day and I will now have to take her to A&E to be seen. Absolutely disgusted with this lack of service in an emergency situation, when my wife has been in pain all afternoon from her eye - I can understand being busy but not to hear anything is an absolute disgrace, and she will now have to wait possibly hours in A&E. Utterly utterly appalling behaviour.
"No callback from Ophthalmology department"
