"Being looked after when working away from home"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I work away an awful lot and on visit to our customers in Scotland I became Ill and very concerned

On waking up as normal I went to the toilet and a significant amount of blood was lost!

So what to do, so typically man style I thought it was a one off and even being concerned I went to visit my first customer site, whilst on site I needed to go to the toilet again and the same happened again with the blood loss.

My second customer site was just around the corner so went there also and again I needed the toilet and yet again a significant amount of blood showed in the toilet bowl

So with gritted teeth and fear I made my way to A&E at Hairmyres

From entering the building I was really looked after in the Reception area and in my as semester, moved into inpatients and again the staff and treatment was first class.

Within a 3/4 hour period I was assed and put on ward 4, surgical receiving seeing another doctor who went through what they were going to do, I even had some food and tea and toast at 8. 00 pm, cracking brew! ! !

Again the day and night staff were amazing and I was so looked after.

You should be very proud of this hospital and the staff, 10 out of 10 to all the nurses, doctors and porters.

On leaving the following morning I was driven back home to Lankashire by my family who came up to take me home

Again thank you so much for looking after me 😊😊😊x

Dear Truey

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Becoming unwell and requiring emergency admission whilst away from home must have been a traumatic experience for you and your family. Staff in both the A&E and Ward 4 will be delighted to hear that you were pleased with their care. I will share your comments with the groups of staff as receiving feedback is very important to us all.

I hope you are making a good recovery.

Best Wishes

Lise
