"The Homeopathic service saved my life"

About: Centre for Integrative Care (formerly Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital)

(as the patient),

Having been in chronic ill health and constant pain severely depressed I was admitted to the ward. I dont sleep for more than two hours even with sleeping pills. My doctors have done all they can. I was at an all time low stuck totally in a cycle of chronic pain.

My hospital admission was a god send no less. I have never felt so at ease with drs and nurses who actually get pain .. and know just what you are dealing with. The therapies treatments and techniques gave me hope ... after reiki the headache I have had for eleven years actually lifted if only for an hour or two but I felt elated.

When you are in chronic pain you are coiled inside mentally and physically ... only by being an inpatient separated from loved ones who you put a face on for to protect them ... in a protected environment where it is safe to let all that go can you begin to relax ... accept the pain and then be able to have the strength to concentrate and learn techniques and skills to take home and make life more bearable. You need to stop the spiral you are on step off and try to climb out of that black hole in steps armed with your new learned skills ... restored by the therapies .... and supported by the staff and fellow patients who are all in the same boat. This service is nothing short of a life saver to all the patients in chronic pain who are in need of respite ... who need time to release the burdens they have and are at the point of giving up.

Alternative therapies are all we have but we are the living breathing proof that they work! I cannot thank the staff enough for the work they did and care I received. I left rested with new hope and skills and feeling better! Mentally and physically.  In Glasgow I feel blessed we have this amazing facility and I feel strongly it should never be taken away from the very people who are too weak to speak up for themselves having been donated and built for that purpose.

I work in a small team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Part of the team’s role is to support patients and carers through our feedback systems which will help to improve the services we provide. On Patient Opinion, I support Lorna Gray, Patient Experience Public Involvement Project Manager, and Niall McGrogan, Head of Patient Experience Public Involvement.

Update posted by Optogeek (the patient)

Thank you .. this in patient service is vital ... I cannot get in and out to glasgow as a day patient it is just impossible with chronic fatigue painigraines and medications I am on. To be an inpatient is the only way for so many reasons.. I am distraught to hear this in patient facility is being withdrawn.
