"Made such a hard day very bearable"

About: Marie Stopes International Manchester Centre

I travelled from Ireland 2 days ago to Marie Stopes Fallowfield in Manchester to get a surgical abortion at 19 weeks pregnant. When I found out how far I was gone I was shocked and upset, I presumed I was only 10/11 weeks so this made my decision much harder ... I rang Marie stopes after my scan in Ireland and they where so kind, i decided going over was the right thing to do. From the second I arrived at Manchester airport I was treated unnaturally nice, the taxi driver who works for Marie stopes is so helpful, when I entered the clinic the receptionist checked me in and sat me and my friend in the waiting room, I was then called upstairs for further consultations to make sure I was 100% sure of my decisions. Every nurse was so helpful and kind. I was then brought down stairs and into a room to undress. As I was so far gone I had to have a small procedure beforehand which I was awake for, this was uncomfortable but the nurse holding my hand and talking me through it made it so much more bareable I can't thank them enough. After this I was brought into the day care room where I had to wait for 4 hours without food or drink (because of GA) the nurses gave me heat pads and pain killers and just spoke to me like a normal person, like a friend I felt so comfortable. I fell asleep for half this time and was woke up very gently by the nurse saying it was time for my procedure, they helped me into the room where the nurse who helped me through my first procedure met me and brought me into the theatre, they told me what was going to happen, held my hand and then all I remember is getting carried back into the day room. I was straight away given tea and biscuits and then anything else I needed, I was relived knowing it was all over and everything had went so smoothly. I sted there for a further hour or more eating and drinking until the nurses made sure I was ready to go. I cannot thank all the staff in Marie Stopes enough, from the 2 doctors, the receptionist, the taxi driver, the day care nurses and the nurse in the theatre with me. I can't believe the reviews I'm reading here because it is definitely not what me or any other girls going through their procedure this week experienced. Honestly, if anyone has to make this decision I would highly recommend Marie Stopes in fallowfield.

I am sorry this was not responded to at the time of your visit but unfortunately, we did not have access to this site at that time. This was a very long time ago, however it's never to late to thank you for your positive comments. This must have been reassuring to many people over the last year for people in the same situation as you. We do appreciate and thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.
