My daughter in law and I presented ourselves at gynaecology department ready for her hysterectomy, got there at 7.30 as requested, waited then the nurse/HCA asked her in to check her details, she had no pen??? Surely if you are writing as part of your duty you would have a pen, bit like a surgeon asking someone to loan a.scalpel. One of the other ladies who, was having the same procedure as my Daughter in Law had a massive hangover, also drinking beakers of water, surely she was aware of the instructions given prior to coming in, seemed quite intelligent. So my daughter and I waited and waited, she was then told at about three o'clock that the operation was cancelled, this is the second time its been cancelled. She is recovering (still on tamoxifen) from breast cancer and has been advised to have this procedure as she has a 80% chance of the cancer spreading!! Can you imagine how she felt for this to happen a second time, I can only imagine what she is going through. Also the staff didn't seem to enunciate clear conversation, when asked how they prioritised the operating list she couldn't answer. Questions need to be answered, what on earth is happening to our health service! The lady who clearly ignored instructions had her procedure, this seems so unfair. We would like some answers.
