"Wonderful experience on C2/ Children's ward"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I took my child, who has a severe learning disability, to the children's ward today (6/9/16) to have a blood test.

The staff were very welcoming.

The play worker, the doctors and nurse who attended to my child offered an excellent service.

I was telephoned beforehand by a learning disability nurse, to ensure that the ward could offer all the support needed to allow this procedure to take place without discomfort to my child.

The doctor was very polite and pleasant.

The play worker was so friendly and provided entertainment and distractions etc., which helped a lot.

My mind was put at rest that my child was in capable, caring hands. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I appreciate the fact that they worked as a team and everything was well co-ordinated.

The whole experience was very good.

It's not easy to take a child who has little language and learning disabilities etc., to have blood extracted for the first time, but I was so relieved that they took the time to plan things for my child's blood test.

Everything went extremely well.

Can't thank them enough.

It is great to hear you were kept well informed and that the team helped your child to feel at ease during your visit.
