"Endoscopy department has administrative problems"

About: University College Hospital

Two problems:

first, it took a full month just to get a date for an appointment. My GP's surgery chased. And I also followed up. But kept being told that the referral fax had not been received.

Second, nearly 7 weeks after the endoscopy, still no sign of the test results. I understand that my GPs surgery has chased. I have also telephoned, although I have not managed to get through to the people responsible. And a message left on the answerphone – as instructed – was never replied to.

The time wasted with incompetent administration must cost the NHS a lot of money. Perhaps some basic training in admin would be useful.

The endoscopy itself was fine.

Thank you for taking the time to feed back to us. We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience of the Administration in the Endoscopy Unit at UCLH. We would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via pals@uclh.nhs.uk or by calling 020 3447 3042 so that we can look into this.
